The task was daunting: write, shoot, edit, and score a short film marking the occasion of Avista’s 125th anniversary in business – and deliver the finished product in under 60 days. And that’s exactly what helveticka did, with help from local production studio Mojo Lab and Avista Marketing Communications Manager Colette Bottinelli. Traveling around Avista’s service territory – which extends as far south as Klamath Falls, Oregon – the film team braved winter storms to capture footage of the utility company’s generation facilities, its customers, and the natural beauty of the region itself, all of which was spliced with archival images and video footage of years gone by. Spokane native and international opera star Thomas Hampson called in from New York City to provide the narration. The resulting film serves as a look back at Avista’s 125 years of service, and a glimpse into the utility’s – and its customers’ – future.
