Rebecca Baibak P., AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, REFP
Though her design and technical background includes professional degrees in both architecture and business, Rebecca’s passion for architecture began much earlier with a love for historic buildings – and a recognition that attention to detail
in those buildings created strong solutions for everyday needs. For more than 20 years, she has dedicated her career
to understanding how learning environments can capture the imagination of students and strengthen the surrounding neighborhoods; as a leader in the educational design community, Rebecca has had the opportunity to balance complex programmatic and curriculum needs with the operational and maintenance requirements of those civic buildings that truly become the centers of their communities.
Brian Carter, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, REFP
While Brian holds degrees in both architecture and economics, it’s his belief that schools are the most important civic institutions – and are the hearts of their communities – that drives his passion for the craft of architecture. His experience, complemented by his active leadership in several education facilities groups, has served his clients and their communities well for over 19 years. Brian travels widely to study education facilities design, and has lectured at seminars regionally and nationally on a variety of education facilities topics. A champion for sustainable design and construction practices, Brian’s efforts as a member of the Washington Sustainable Schools Committee have brought national attention to our state, and directly led to $1.5 million in state funding for OSPI sustainable schools pilot projects.
Thomas Corcoran, PE, SE
From the time his dad cut Lincoln Logs from scraps of wood, Tom has had a fascination with developing forms and shapes. After earning a BS in architectural design drafting, he realized his true passion was designing and integrating structure to accommodate architecture – so a BS in civil engineering with structural engineering post-graduate studies soon followed. For Tom, each project tells a unique story, yet each requires successful collaboration and integration between architecture and structure, a philosophy that has served him well for nearly 30 years.
John Cuddy, PE, SE, LEED AP
As a reward for increasing circulation on his paper route, 13-year-old John got a free bus trip from Spokane to see parts of the recent World’s Fair in Seattle. Buildings like the Space Needle, which even then seemed to him to be entirely appropriate for its use in its setting, provided the inspiration to take up a career helping to create beautiful and meaningful buildings. With a facility for math and a love of problem solving, structural engineering was a natural choice for John, as evidenced by projects that exhibit that elusive combination of harmony, elegance, and integrity – all while maintaining realistic budgets and schedules.
