Mark Dailey, AIA, NCARB
Mark has always been fascinated by how a simple sketch can be transformed into a complex, beautiful, and functional piece of architecture. Figuring out how that initial idea becomes a building – and how that building in uences people and their everyday experiences – is where he excels. Mark’s approach to building design is rooted in the time-tested principles of Modern architecture: a belief in simple, functional buildings that are unique to a certain place and time. It’s a philosophy that’s earned accolades from Mark’s peers and by industry organizations at the local, regional, and national levels.
Larry Hurlbert, AIA, DBIA
Growing up in Montana, Larry developed a love for the outdoors. And through 34 years of architectural projects, his goal has been to develop an appropriate t between the natural and built environments. He’s worked on programming and design for dozens of facilities, and is known for his careful attentiveness to clients’ needs and a particular attention to the appropriate application of design, energy ef ciency, and sustainable building systems. A strong leader, Larry is a champion of the goals and visions established for a project at the outset. He remains active and interested in the relationship between architecture and alternative delivery systems, and currently serves as the president of the Northwest Region of the Design Build Institute of America.
Preston Potratz, AIA, NCARB
Even as a young boy, Preston was fascinated with math and science – but he was also passionate about drawing and art. Architecture seemed the appropriate opportunity to marry these interests. In college, he was introduced to the concept of computer visualization and animation. The math and science of computers, combined with the technology to create lifelike representations of an idea long before it could be realized in bricks and mortar, was a perfect t. Trained as an architect, Preston managed the IT systems for Integrus and helped develop its computer graphic capabilities. He remains connected to technology as the rm’s IT supervisor while enjoying the creative process of architecture.
David Van Galen, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP
David’s rst design project was in North Carolina when, as an architecture student, he teamed with his wife, her students, and other staff to recon gure her special education classroom to support more active student-centered learning.
Nearly 30 years later, David is still committed to an integrated team approach to the design process. With degrees in planning and architecture, his broad-based, client-focused sensitivity and intimate understanding of the needs and concerns of building users has resulted in award-winning architecture that functions superbly within the often demanding contexts of the public realm.
Gerald Winkler, AIA, NCARB
Jerry’s rst architectural job in Spokane was as a staff member of the Expo ’74 World’s Fair, assisting with the management of design and construction contracts. By the time the fair was over, he had been hired by Bruce Walker to join WMFL – Integrus’ forerunner. Jerry’s rst project was the innovative and award-winning Safeco Insurance Company’s regional of ce building in the Spokane Valley. When Integrus was commissioned to design a remodel of the building for Numerica Credit Union, Jerry was thrilled to show his original pencil work to the architects working on the project. Today, as the rm’s justice lead, Jerry has planned and designed facilities in 12 states, along with Canada and Guam; he’s also served as lead architect for the rm’s State Department portfolio, with 13 projects in 10 different countries.
