Fewer than 300 publicly traded companies in the United States are as old as Hecla Mining Company, founded in 1891 in North Idaho’s fabled Silver Valley. In fact, Hecla is the oldest precious metals mining company in all of North America – and the largest primary silver producer in the United States. To help mark its 125th anniversary this year, Hecla turned to long-time partner helveticka to develop a film celebrating the company’s persistence in times of both prosperity and adversity, its perspective on that tumultuous history, and how its unique position will likely lead to continued success in the future. helveticka first provided conceptual and scripting services, then partnered with ILF Media for filming and post-production work, providing creative direction both on location and during the editing phase. The four-minute film debuted at the 2015 annual meeting of the American Exploration & Mining Association as part of Hecla president and CEO Phil Baker’s keynote presentation.
