When helveticka was founded in 1988, one of its first clients was Hecla Mining Company. Nearly 30 years later, that relationship is as strong as its ever been, leading the two to once again team up on a refresh of the mining company’s website – the fourth since 2001. Though the impetus was Hecla’s 125th anniversary, the redesign is more than just a prettier face. A naturally content-heavy site (subject to regulatory oversight by the Securities and Exchange Commission), its information was reorganized and its navigation streamlined to provide a better experience for the 10,000 unique visitors who view it every month. Those visitors range from investors to potential employees to those seeking news about the company and its properties. Data feeds (e.g. current stock and metals prices) and investor-centric financial information are handled seamlessly by third-party vendors. In addition, the site – which also has a French language version – is now responsive. Since launching, overall traffic has increased by 38 percent; mobile and tablet traffic by 52 and 90 percent, respectively. helveticka provided creative direction, design, programming, and management services for the project.
