For the third consecutive year, helveticka and Pressworks teamed up to create a one-of-a-kind holiday card for the Spokane-based commercial print shop. And this year, “one-of-a-kind” took on a whole new meaning, as the 2016 card was not only a do-it-yourself kit – it was also completely customizable. Those lucky enough to be on the Pressworks mailing list received one of six historic winter photographs from the collection of the Joel E. Ferris Research Archives of the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture. A couple of folds here and bends there, and the photograph’s built-in easel enabled it to be displayed on a flat surface. Recipients could then choose from a selection of humorous captions (“depending on your holiday mood”) to accompany each scene – or, if inspiration were to strike, a blank caption card was also provided. And because the extra captions could be stored out of sight in the easel itself, the message could be changed as often as your mood. Designed by helveticka, the cards were offset-printed, die-cut, embossed, foil-stamped, and assembled by the Pressworks team.
