“Capitalized for half a million dollars and incorporated on October 14, 1891, Hecla Mining Company stands today as the last of the pioneer mining companies of North Idaho’s fabled Silver Valley – the oldest U.S.-based precious metals mining company and the largest primary silver producer in the United States.” So begins Persistence, Perspective, Position: Celebrating 125 Years, a 40-page perfect-bound book commemorating Hecla’s 125th year in business. Designed by helveticka, the book features both archival and current photography (the latter by Jim Van Gundy), as well as a fold-out timeline of important milestones over the company’s eventful history. Like the film of the same name, also created by helveticka, the book addresses themes related to Hecla’s persistence in times of both prosperity and adversity, its perspective on that tumultuous history, and how its unique position will lead to continued success in the future.
