It’s 2025, and that means a full decade of giving back through Helveticahaus, the charitable arm of helveticka (and stylish vessel for our obsession with typography). Every mug, every tote, every Tt has benefitted design students at Spokane Falls Community College, and every evaluation of scholarship candidates has left us confident in the future of the field.
To celebrate, we checked up on past recipients. They’re working in graphic design or something related, from editorial and multimedia to photography and video production. We are proud of them all, and excited to announce that the 20th honoree is Caya Berndt, seen here with Hh founders Linda and CK Anderson.
Caya is a proudly unreformed doodler – an artist who works in everything from watercolor on canvas to ash on pavement. They are a lover of animals (especially geese) and Dungeons & Dragons. Music and books are food to them, whether danceable indietronica or sociocultural nonfiction.
In short, Caya contains multitudes.
They left a successful career path to pursue their creative dream, inspired by the duality of Milton Glaser and the technicolor maximalism and hand-drawn exactness of Aries Moross. Caya, the world is lucky you chose design over law school. Because, like you, we believe this work can and does make a difference.
