Following a six-month internship at helveticka, Steven Kutsch joined the firm this month. The graphic designer is a recent graduate of Eastern Washington University’s visual communication design program. He’s also a former Division 1 cross-country athlete, having run at Oregon, Sacramento State, and EWU. That’s a “tremendous upside,” according to helveticka founder and creative director CK Anderson. “It means he’s not only disciplined and committed,” explained Anderson, “but also coachable.” Kutsch is no stranger to the business: his father, Steve, has been a well-known and respected graphic designer in Spokane for 35 years – which, it turns out, is why Kutsch chose helveticka. “My dad told me that these were some of the best people to work with,” he said. Since Kutsch ultimately decided to stick around after his internship, we think his dad may be on to something.
