So Sheryl Sandberg thinks the word “bossy” ought to be banned. For reals.
Is it me, or is this some serious chutzpah? A privileged billionaire is using her position of massive wealth and influence to tell you and me to stop saying “bossy.” Doesn’t that sound a little, I dunno…bossy?
Plus, assuming Sandberg and her popular-girl posse (which, as of this writing, includes Beyonce and Condi Rice) are successful in their attempt to scrub the English language of a word they don’t like, how else are we supposed to describe someone who’s “given to ordering people about; overly authoritative; domineering“? Something tells me they won’t like what I come up with.
