Happy Helvetica Day! Or is it…

It’s time to celebrate Helvetica Day! That is, if you trust Google’s AI. Ask when the holiday is, and it comes back with April 21 as the “unofficial, dedicated celebration of the Helvetica typeface.”

But look a little closer and its source is a random 2023 post from some print shop in Indiana, accepted as gospel by the world’s favorite fact-checker with a surprising amount of enthusiasm (“unofficial” covers a multitude of sins, and at least the robots have given us a solid strategy for getting Taxidermied Squirrel Day on the books.) Apparently, Helvetica Day isn’t a thing. But it should be, so we’re going with it.

Our firm’s name, helveticka, is a wink at the famous Swiss typeface we’re so fond of using. And our nonprofit arm, Helveticahaus, supports design students through sales of merch made for Helvetica stans. If any fake holiday is worth our energy, it’s this one. Plus, April 21 is legitimately recognized as World Creativity and Innovation Day, and 69 years since it rocked the design community, Helvetica still evokes that spirit.

So, we are offering a 25% discount on all Helveticahaus apparel (including classic/ladies tees, tanks, and hoodies) through April 30. That means you have 10 days to check out 25 very cool designs and decide whose life needs some Helvetica. While you’re there, don’t miss our totes and note cards, mini posters and decals, and haus mugs ready for our special coffee blend. 100% of proceeds go to design scholarships!

Just click the coupon when you’re in checkout and the discount on apparel will apply. If you have any issues (or if you just want to say howdy), send us a quick note at info@helveticahaus.com.
